MilkTea shows the best of East & Southeast Asian cinema in the UK. Their work begins with screenings, but their goal is to build inclusion, communities & audiences. They have worked on a variety of films & partnered with the likes of Sony Pictures, A24, MUBI, Netflix, Curzon, Picturehouse Entertainment, Lionsgate, StudioCanal and many more.
I have been interning for MilkTea since August 2024. Working with the experienced founders and a dynamic group of volunteers has been an amazing learning experience. I have taken on tasks such as developing ideas, contributing to event proposals, researching and contacting collaborators and community partners, liaising with venues, and writing and editing copy. I have also curated and written posts on ESEA films at UK festivals.
Projects and events I have been involved in: "Black Box Diaries", "Chungking Express", "How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies", "Presence", the MilkTea Supersize regional expansion and more.
